Day 1 Malawi, Kumbali Lodge, BB

After arrival at Lilongwe-airport immediate transfer to Kumbali Country Lodge set in a prime piece of indigenous countryside. For a weekend away and as an alternative to the Lake, Kumbali Country Lodge delivers a unique environment in which you can unwind and relax. Exceptional comfort in individually decorated chalets awaits our guests along with an enthusiastic and professional service. There are 13 rooms in total. The 9 executive rooms, which are enclosed under ethnic thatch, have en-suite bathrooms with both shower and bath. Tea and coffee facilities, TV, Internet and a private patio included for additional comfort. The remaining standard rooms are attached to the main homestead and offer shared bathroom facilities for a more economical budget. A laundry service is also available 7 days a week.

Day 2 & 3 Zomba Plateau, Kuchawe Inn HB

Transfer on day 2 to Zomba Plateau in around 5 hours. Packed lunch on route. Overnight in the Zomba Forest Lodge on half board.Kuchawe Inn is nicely located with beautiful views. Room are ensuiteSome of the most interesting places to visit while you are here are the botanical gardens and the central market. Zomba was the capital city until 1975 when Lilongwe was declared the new capital. The Zomba market is regarded as the most colourful in Malawi. There are several hiking trails, Williams falls, Mandala falls. Emperor's viewpoint and the Queen view point.

Day 4 - 5 Liwonde National Park, Mvuu Camp, FB + activities

In the early afternoon on day 4 clients will depart for Liwonde National Park ( this is just a 1 - 2 hours drive ), stay at Mvuu Camp on full board plus activities.The Liwonde National Park area is named after the local Amachingo Yao traditional authority that predominates this area. Liwonde is today one of Malawi’s most desired park destinations due to its scenically attractive vistas and the diverse range of wildlife to be seen here. Lying on the Great African Rift Valley floor, the Park is over 500 square kilometres and the only home in Malawi to the Big Five mammals. Over 400 bird species are also resident among the diverse brachtegia, mopane, and riverine woodlands, palm savannahs and the associated marshy floodplains.The Shire River does not dry up like so many other African rivers. Thousands of hippos and crocodiles live in these abundant waters. Grazing in the floodplain are waterbuck, sable and impala antelope whilst herds of elephant drink and bathe in the river. The highlight of a visit to Liwonde is a river cruise. An astonishing number of bird species inhabit the park, among which are the brilliant Lillian's Lovebirds, the Brown Breasted Barbet, Pel's Fishing Owl and Palmnut Vulture. The resident black rhino pair gave birth in mid-1997 to a baby rhino;Mvuu Camp on the banks of the Shire is your base for your safaris. Overnight at the Camp.

Day 6 Senga Bay, Lake Malawi, Safari Beach Lodge, HB

From Liwonde N.P. you will drive in about 4 hours to Senga Bay, where you will stay, at Lake Malawi, at the Safari Beach Lodge for one night on half board. Its advisable to visit Mua Mission on the way with its nice museum.Senga Bay is regarded as one of the best beaches in the region.Safari Beach Lodge is set on a hill side surrounded by numerous natural trees, you will be staying in comfortable walk-in safari tents en-suite, built on the rocks overviewing the lake, or rooms en-suite on half board.Optional activities include visits to the nearby Lizard Island, Grants Fishing farm or the nearby hills for walks. Senga Bay has the largest curio-market in Malawi. Water sports are available.

Day 7 & 8 Chinteche, Lake Malawi, Makuzi Beach Lodge, HB

Transfer to Chinteche ( this takes around 4 - 5 hours ) for a stay at Makuzi Beach Lodge for two nights on half board.Makuzi Beach Lodge at Chinteche has eight comfortable chalets tastefully furnished with en-suite facilities on a secluded beach. Each has its own solar power and hot water boiler. All chalets overlook the beach and the warm clear waters are only metres away. Optional activities are: snorkelling, wind gliding, kayaking, diving, parasailing, fishing, boat trips, bird watching, mountain biking and historical excursions.

Day 9 Viphya Plateau, Luwawa Forest Lodge, FB

Transfer to the Viphya Plateau ( this takes 4 hours ) where you will stay at Luwawa Forest Lodge in lchalets with en-suite facilities on full board. The lodge has a perfect forest setting and overlooks the Luwawa Dam which is well stocked with fish ( fishing in season is permitted ). The Lodge is provided with electricity by solar and wind power is run on environmentally friendly principles. Optional activities are: Rock climbing and abseiling from the local inselbergs, sailing and kayaking, bird watching safaris, night drives, cultural experiences in remote villages, fishing, squash, table tennis, sundowners at local mountainpeaks, guided walks and mountainbiking. Viphya Forest Reserve:This reserve is on the huge Viphya Plateau just north of Mzimba and close to the main road. It has one of the largest pine plantations in Africa. Many excellent walks can be taken through the plantation and through several indigenous forests. Luwawa has some good birdwatching areas.

Day 10 - 12 Zambia, South-Luangwa National Park, Kafunta River Lodge, FB plus all game - activities ( game drives and night drives )

On day 10, an early start for a 7 hour drive to South - Luangwa National Park in Zambia, packed lunch on-route.South Luangwa National Park Malawi is fortunate to be a gateway to this beautiful park in Zambia, "the Valley of the Elephants", one of the finest game viewing areas in all of Africa. South Luangwa is the better known of the parks in Zambia, with an extensive network of roads and lodges it offers a unique wilderness experience. The valley is teaming with a large variety of game. Large herds of buffalo (said be to the largest in Africa) and also elephants are one of the major attractions of the valley. There is a wide variety of wildlife, probably the best in central Africa. This park has numerous lions, leopards, wild dogs, hyenas, elephants various types of antelope and birds. You may be lucky to see a pride of lions over a kill or a leopard kill! Optional activities include a visit to a traditional African Village. Thornicroft’s giraffe and Cookson’s wildebeest are some of the unique animals that are endemic to this part of Africa. The dominant antelope that abound in the valley are impala and puku, along with kudu, zebra, eland, reedbuck, wildebeest, hartebeest and bushbuck. The birdlife in the valley is also of rich and varied diversity with over 400 species recorded. The large flocks of cranes, brightly coloured Carmine bee-eaters and the numerous different raptors are but a few of the spectacles that you may see. The Valley is filled with animals and practically empty of people.Kafunta River Lodge is set in riverine forest on the banks of the Luangwa River, eight attractive thatched chalets, set on stilts, overlook the South Luangwa N.P.Enjoy game drives and night drives accompanied by experienced Safari Guides and discover the abundance of wildlife in the National Park. The night drives offer the experience of viewing unique nocturnal creatures.Relax on your private veranda and allow your senses to appreciate the surroundings. Observe elephants crossing the river and giraffe browsing. Listen to the hippos' chorus and the songs of the rich birdlife. Feel the breeze which carries the scent of the bush. Enjoy the panoramic view of the Luangwa River from the terrace bar and experience fine dining in the special atmosphere of Kafunta River Lodge.

Day 13 Kumbali Lodge on BB

On day 13 we will transfer you back to Lilongwe.Day 14 Transfer to Lilongwe Airport for onward connection.
